The FIFA Advisory Forum with professional players held its meeting this weekend in Rabat, focusing on the working conditions and welfare of footballers. According to a statement from the international body, the meeting resulted in «fruitful exchanges» between FIFA President Gianni Infantino, FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström, and other officials, alongside representatives of player unions from around the world. Members of the Players' Voice panel, including honorary captain George Weah and several World Cup champions, also took part in the discussions, which brought together delegates from 30 player unions. Building on the constructive dialogue initiated last July in New York during the Club World Cup, the Rabat forum provided an opportunity to review key initiatives aimed at supporting athletes globally and improving their working environments. «FIFA is committed to enhancing the well-being and working conditions of footballers everywhere through the implementation of concrete, meaningful measures that will have a lasting impact on the future of our sport», said Gianni Infantino, as quoted in the statement. He added that this commitment is reflected in FIFA's substantial investments through its Fund for Professional Players, its engagement platforms within FIFA bodies, and other major initiatives endorsed during this first Advisory Forum. During the meeting, FIFA and representatives from over 30 unions worldwide ratified several measures addressing the well-being and employment conditions of players. These points will undergo further consultation with additional stakeholders, particularly regarding the international match calendar. On this occasion, FIFA announced the creation of a USD 20 million fund for 2026–2029, aimed at supporting players who are unable to receive their salaries due to their clubs' financial difficulties.
