Morocco has authorized Israeli airlines to resume direct flights to Casablanca, Channel 12 Israel reported on Thursday. The decision follows discussions between Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev and her Moroccan counterpart, Abdessamad Qayouh, with approval from civil aviation authorities in both countries. This makes Morocco the first Muslim-majority country to allow the resumption of flights since the outbreak of Israel's war on Gaza on October 7, 2023. According to the Israeli channel, following a U.S.-brokered ceasefire, communication between transportation and security officials from both sides was restored. Talks focused on reopening the direct route, which previously operated at near-full capacity and saw high passenger demand.
