Morocco has inaugurated the first edition of the AMAZE CanSat Academy, a new space-training program launched on December 5 in Benguerir through a partnership between the U.S. Embassy in Morocco, the Moroccan Initiative for Space Industry (MISI), and the Mohammed VI High School of Excellence (LM6E). Inspired by U.S. educational models and NASA's systems-engineering lifecycle, the program offers Moroccan students high-level training on mini-satellites, including virtual masterclasses with American space experts, announces a press release on Monday. The academy will run in several phases, combining in-person workshops, online learning, and culminating in a CanSat launch demonstration in May 2026. A cohort of 30 top Moroccan students has been selected for the inaugural edition, chosen for their academic excellence, problem-solving skills, and leadership potential. By the end of the program, they will design, build, and launch a CanSat, a soda-can-sized satellite model equipped with sensors and coding modules that simulate real mission conditions. Hosted at LM6E in Benguerir, the launch event featured scientific demonstrations and expert presentations. The initiative aims to strengthen U.S.–Morocco cooperation in space and provide the next generation of Moroccan engineers with training aligned with NASA standards.
