DR ‹ › Joint control operations carried out by Morocco's General Directorate of National Security and Moroccan Customs at the Port of Tanger Med thwarted, on Thursday, an attempt to traffic 8 tonnes and 196 kilograms of cannabis resin (chira) concealed aboard an international freight truck. According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security, officers uncovered the drugs meticulously packaged into plastic bars and hidden inside a Moroccan-registered truck bound, by sea, for a European port. The truck's driver, a 50-year-old Moroccan national, has been placed under judicial investigation on the orders of the competent prosecutor to determine the circumstances of the case and identify all national and international links connected to the criminal network.
