Tsinghua University in China officially announced the launch of the «Hazem Ben Qasim» scholarship program for Moroccan and Arab students on Thursday, June 26, in the presence of prominent ambassadors, officials, and university administrators. The program will provide annual funding for six students from Arab League member countries pursuing undergraduate and graduate studies at the prestigious institution. This marks the first scholarship specifically designated for Arab students at Tsinghua University, aiming to strengthen Arab-Chinese relations. Founded in 1911, Tsinghua University is considered one of China's top universities, known for excellence in technology and engineering studies, often compared to MIT. The university comprises 20 colleges and offers 90 undergraduate programs. Notable alumni include current Chinese President Xi Jinping. Hazem Ben Qasim, founder and CEO of Bluefive Capital, previously served as Deputy CEO of Investcorp until September 2024. He has funded scholarship programs at Harvard University, Harvard Medical School, the Kennedy School of Government, and Oxford University. In 2017, he established Harvard's first official presence in the Arab world through an office in Tunisia. The scholarship program will begin during the 2025-2026 academic year.
