Four minors, initially sentenced for sexually harassing a young woman by the Tangier Corniche in a viral video, have had their sentences reduced on appeal. Last week, the Court of Appeals' Criminal Chamber in Tangier ruled to accept the appeal, upholding the original verdict but reducing each minor's sentence from three years to two years of imprisonment. Additionally, the minors' guardians were held liable for solidarity and ordered to pay the minimum amount, reports Al3omk, citing a copy of the ruling. In a secret session in mid-November last year, the Criminal Chamber of First Instance sentenced each of the four defendants to three years in prison. The prosecution charged two of the defendants with indecent assault of a female with violence, participation in it, and drug consumption. The other two defendants faced charges related to indecent assault of a female with violence and participation in it. The four defendants were held in detention at Tangier 2 prison, and the victim did not attend the sessions because she was not identified. The case dates back to July, when a viral video showed the mass harassment of a girl on the Tangier Corniche, causing widespread outrage on social media. The investigation revealed that the victim was visiting the city as a tourist with friends during the summer when the incident occurred.
