Salwa El Bardai, a member of the Justice and Development Party's parliamentary group, raised concerns in a written question about a recent incident in which a woman gave birth on the sidewalk outside a closed health center in the Beni Rzine commune, Chefchaouen province. She denounced what she described as the «dangerous neglect» affecting health facilities in rural areas. El Bardai stressed that the woman received neither basic medical care nor humanitarian assistance, arguing that the incident highlights the fragility of healthcare infrastructure and the lack of medical personnel in remote regions. She noted that this was not the first such case in the area, raising serious concerns about the effectiveness of public health programs and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection's commitment to upholding basic standards of healthcare and human dignity in marginalized communities. The MP called on the Minister of Health to disclose the urgent measures that will be taken to hold those responsible accountable, describing the event as a «tragedy» and to explain what steps are planned to ensure access to basic healthcare services in Beni Rzin and other underserved rural areas.
