A man in his thirties has been sentenced to six months in prison and fined 5,000 dirhams by the Tiznit primary court for burning a Moroccan national flag, an act deemed as an «insult to the national emblem». The incident occurred last Thursday during Throne Day celebrations. The man reportedly took down several flags displayed along Sidi Abdelrahman Street before setting one of them on fire and fleeing the area. Following the act, an investigation was swiftly launched by local authorities in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance. The suspect was apprehended shortly thereafter outside the city's urban perimeter.
