The Criminal Chamber of the Rabat Court of Appeal has reached a verdict in the harrowing case involving the detention and attempted rape of two young girls in Khemisset, as reported by Al Akhbar newspaper. The court handed down a six-year prison sentence to the main accused, a 24-year-old man, while his accomplice, aged 25, received a four-year sentence. Throughout the trial, the courtroom was gripped by the victims' harrowing testimonies. One of the girls recounted the terrifying ordeal, explaining how she and her friend were held captive and subjected to an attempted rape. In a desperate bid to escape, she leaped from a second-floor window, sustaining fractures that required urgent medical treatment. Despite the defendants' claims that the girls had willingly entered the apartment, the court dismissed their defense and confirmed the charges of detention and attempted rape. The incident dates back to last year, when investigations were launched after a girl was found injured from a fall from an apartment in Khemisset. It was later uncovered that she and her friend had been unlawfully detained and faced an attempted rape. Further revelations in the case disclosed that the main defendant had previously arranged with the mother of one of the victims to marry her daughter while she was still a minor. However, this arrangement was never realized. Two years later, he forcibly detained the girl and her friend in his apartment and attempted to assault them.
