Moroccan-Spanish footballer Mourad Daoudi El Ghezouani has begun a new chapter in his career, joining Liga MX side Xolos de Tijuana for the Apertura 2025/26 season. Following Oussama Idrissi's recent move to Pachuca, Daoudi becomes the second player of Moroccan descent to compete in Mexico. The Mexican league, once dominated by South American talent, is now attracting players from Spain, Jamaica, Cameroon, and Morocco, further enriching its diversity. ?@FOXDeportes — Jessi Zamora (@jessizamora) August 30, 2025 According to Fox Deportes, Daoudi is expected to become the main striker for head coach Sebastián Abreu, who is eager to strengthen Tijuana's attack. At 27, Daoudi brings experience from a career that began at Villarreal's youth academy before taking him to Orihuela CF, CD Alcoyano, and Burgos CF. Born in Balsapintada, Spain, he carries Moroccan heritage and a strong professional background. Despite his potential, Daoudi saw limited minutes in Spain's top flight. At Elche, he played just two matches, totaling 50 minutes without scoring. Across his career, he has netted 18 goals in 81 appearances, along with several assists. His move to Mexico is expected to provide more playing time and a real chance to establish himself as a key offensive force. Currently, Tijuana sits seventh in Liga MX with 12 points. The Xolos secured a 3-0 victory over Necaxa in their most recent outing and will next face San Luis on September 14.
