The National Union of Private Sector Doctors (SNMSL) is making its voice heard. At an expanded National Council meeting on Sunday, September 4, 2025, in Casablanca, the union condemned the «illegality» of postponing the professional elections, pointing to a critical governance issue within the National Order of Doctors. Representatives from regions including Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Agadir, Tangier-Tetouan, Oujda, and Fez-Meknes convened to deliver a unified message: the decision to delay, made by professional bodies, is without legal standing. The SNMSL reminds us that Law 08-12, enacted in 2013, ensures private doctors the right to elect their representatives through a sectoral vote. After reviewing various legal opinions and official documents, the union's expanded National Council asserts that this postponement contravenes the operational rules of the Order. The union is calling for an «immediate and transparent organization» of the elections, overseen by a union monitoring committee. Private doctors are also advocating for a comprehensive reform of Law 08-12. The SNMSL stresses the importance of fully involving private sector practitioners in legislative processes. They propose the establishment of a dedicated legal commission to update the law to reflect the current realities of the profession. An official referral to the General Secretariat of the Government has been announced to clarify the voting method stipulated by Law 08-12. Another pressing issue is the contributions to the National Social Security Fund (CNSS). The union criticizes the «excessive charges» and calls for a fair revision, aligning with the systems applied to other liberal professions, while taking into account the unique aspects of private medical practice. A social and financial commission is proposed to tackle these concerns.
