Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired a high-level ministerial meeting on the Women, Peace, and Security agenda on Thursday in New York, held on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. More than fifteen ministers took part in the meeting to discuss the extension of Morocco's National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security, while also reviewing best practices and sharing experiences in the field. On this occasion, Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, praised Morocco's decision to extend its National Action Plan, commending the kingdom's efforts in implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1325. She recalled that Morocco was among the first countries in North Africa to adopt a national action plan, along with monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, which, she noted, provide significant added value and help deliver impactful results on the ground. The kingdom has also made notable efforts to raise awareness in Africa about the impact of emerging crises on women and girls, particularly those linked to climate change and epidemics. Several foreign ministers and ministers responsible for women's affairs also welcomed the organization of this high-level meeting. They highlighted Morocco's leadership and experience in advancing women's rights, as well as its role in peace and security processes, including the deployment of Moroccan contingents to UN peacekeeping operations.
