Opposition parties, joined by the Justice and Charity group, have condemned the «repression» of the weekend's Generation Z protests, calling for the release of detainees and the fulfillment of their social demands. Amid the silence of the government and its coalition parties, opposition forces have spoken out in response to the weekend protests that erupted across several Moroccan cities, driven by «Generation Z» youth mobilizing through social media. In a statement, the General Secretariat of the Justice and Development Party (PJD) expressed its «deep concern over the developments of the peaceful social protests organized by many citizens across the country», denouncing the climate of bans and arrests that accompanied them. The party held the government «fully responsible for the deterioration of social conditions and the rise in peaceful demonstrations demanding basic rights and essential services», urging it «to act proactively, seriously, and responsibly in addressing these protests». The statement also called for handling the situation «with openness, a comprehensive vision, and a wise political approach». The Unified Socialist Party echoed this criticism, voicing alarm at «the ongoing repression of fundamental freedoms by the authorities, particularly the right to peaceful protest, freedom of expression, and freedom of association». It condemned «all forms of repression and restriction of public freedoms», demanding «the release of all political detainees and prisoners of conscience, including social movement activists and party members». Opposition calls for detainees' release The Federation of the Democratic Left highlighted «the state of popular unrest in the country» revealed by the recent protests and sit-ins on September 27 and 28. It strongly condemned what it described as intimidation, repression, and arrests, while affirming «its principled support for the just and legitimate demands raised by popular movements». The party warned that a heavy-handed security approach would only deepen the crisis, escalate tensions, and risk plunging the country into instability with dire consequences for its future. The Democratic Way Party joined in, strongly condemning «the violent crackdowns on popular protests witnessed in several cities» over deteriorating public services and the erosion of free public health and education. The party denounced «the authoritarian regime's repressive approach to the legitimate demands of Moroccan youth across all social groups affected by exclusionary classist policies», while condemning «the arrests of protesters in various cities». The Popular Movement Party chose to weigh in through its youth wing, which said the crisis reflects the government's lack of vision in addressing education, training, employment, and territorial justice. It emphasized the widening despair and distrust in institutions, while urging authorities to open a serious dialogue to transform these legitimate demands into concrete public policies that guarantee dignity and social justice. For its part, the youth branch of Justice and Charity declared that «this young generation is not asking for the impossible, but crying out for its most basic rights: education that opens horizons, healthcare that preserves life, employment that ensures dignity, housing that provides stability, and social justice that restores respect». They condemned «the repression and arrests targeting Moroccan youth protests», demanded «the release of detainees arrested for participating in peaceful gatherings», and warned that «a security approach rooted in authoritarianism and arrests will only fuel further tension and unrest».
