The Moroccan start-up iAvicenne claimed the top prize at the Startup Competition during the fourth Qatar Africa Business Forum (QABF), held on Nov. 18-19 in Johannesburg, South Africa. This accolade, worth $40,000 (nearly 400,000 DH), recognizes the strategic innovation of the best African project leaders. Like the eight other startups in the running, two Moroccan entities were selected from over 200 applications. Wafeeq (Egypt) took home the second prize, while the third prize went to the Moroccan startup Nexa IA, which emerged from UM6P's The Forge program. Thus, Morocco was represented twice on the podium. This ranking highlights the prominent position national entities hold in African innovation across various sectors, such as health, agritech, and weather tech.
