DR ‹ › The Polisario Front is preparing to dispatch a delegation to the United States for a fresh round of talks concerning Western Sahara, in line with Security Council Resolution 2797 adopted on October 31st. In this context, Mouloud Said, the Front's representative in Washington and a member of the Izarguyine tribe, has traveled to Florida, a bastion of Donald Trump, to «prepare the ground». A source familiar with the situation reports that the Front's envoy is engaging in targeted lobbying efforts with Republican officials and circles as they await the official start of the discussions. The Algerian embassy in Washington is also actively supporting Mouloud Said's initiative, the source added. However, within the Polisario's leadership, the decision to send this delegation to the United States has not been met with unanimous approval. Bachir Mustapha Sayed has criticized the «secrecy» surrounding the mission and condemned Brahim Ghali's influence over the delegation's composition. The Front's leader «has formed a negotiating team composed of active members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which he personally oversees to maintain the confidentiality of its activities and operations», Sayed expressed in a critical article. As of now, the Polisario has yet to release an official statement announcing the departure of this negotiating mission to the United States. It is important to note that the Polisario initially rejected any involvement in negotiations based on Security Council Resolution 2797, which underscores the significance of the Moroccan autonomy initiative for Western Sahara.
