DR ‹ › American students enrolled in an Arabic immersion program in Jordan have been urgently relocated to Morocco due to the war in Iran and rising regional tensions. Initially, the program adopted a «wait-and-see» approach, but students were later instructed to evacuate. «Around 24 hours later, they were at the airport… to finish the semester in Rabat, Morocco», The Brown Daily Herald reported, citing two American students enrolled in the Amman-based program. Tyler Fischman, one of the students relocated to Morocco, said the situation deteriorated rapidly after the conflict began. «I've never seen anything like it», he said, adding that he heard «three or four sirens a day» and even witnessed missile interceptions in the sky. Now based in Morocco's capital, Fischman is continuing his studies, taking some classes in person and others online. He is also adapting to Moroccan Arabic, which he says differs significantly from the Jordanian dialect. «I feel, first and foremost, grateful and privileged to be able to continue my studies here in Morocco… The fact that I don't have to be under the threat of rocket fire… is a great privilege», he said. Another student, René Nováková, who plans to join the same program, said Morocco could serve as an alternative destination. «If not, Morocco seems like a great other option», she said. The relocation comes as U.S. authorities urge citizens to «DEPART NOW» from several Middle Eastern countries, including Jordan, amid mounting security concerns.
