Morocco and Rwanda signed a military cooperation agreement on Wednesday, June 18, in Rabat, during a meeting between Minister Delegate in charge of the National Defense Administration Abdellatif Loudiyi and his Rwandan counterpart, Juvenal Marizamunda. The agreement covers several areas, including training, joint exercises between the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and the Rwandan army, as well as logistical support, technical assistance, military healthcare, and the exchange of expertise in areas of mutual interest, according to a statement from Morocco's National Defense Administration. It also provides for the establishment of a joint military commission, which will define the scope of cooperation and convene alternately in Rabat and Kigali. This comes just a day after Morocco signed a similar military cooperation agreement with Ethiopia, also in Rabat. While both Rwanda and Ethiopia continue to recognize the so-called «Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR)», this has not prevented a diplomatic rapprochement initiated by King Mohammed VI in 2016.
