On Thursday, Russian authorities extradited a Moroccan national to Morocco from Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport, as part of joint cooperation between the National Central Bureau of Interpol under Russia's Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Prison Service. According to a statement by Interior Ministry spokesperson Irina Volk, the suspect was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by Moroccan authorities for alleged involvement in fraud, forgery, and the use of forged documents. The case dates back to 2022, when the man, originally from Fez, allegedly embezzled more than 1.1 million dirhams from a commercial company using fake documents before fleeing the country. He was later placed on Interpol's wanted list. Volk noted that Russian police apprehended the suspect in August 2024 in the Kirov region, located in northeastern Russia. Following the completion of legal procedures, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office approved Morocco's extradition request. The suspect has since been handed over to the competent judicial authorities in the kingdom.
