Imprisoned Rif Movement leader Nasser Zefzafi, currently held at Tangier 2 Prison, has made a heartfelt appeal to the «free sons and daughters of the Rif» living abroad. He is seeking their assistance in securing medical treatment for his mother «at a hospital in Europe». In a message shared by his brother on Facebook, Zefzafi revealed that his mother's «health condition is deteriorating» due to what he describes as «deliberate neglect at local hospitals» because of her association with him. He further explained that his mother is «exhausted from the pain she suffers in her back», and highlighted that his father is also battling cancer.
