On Saturday, a delegation from Morocco's House of Councillors engaged in discussions in Lima, Peru, with Sara Condori, the newly elected president of the Andean Parliament. This marked their first official meeting since her election. The Moroccan delegation, headed by Abdelkader Salama, the first vice-president of the House of Councillors and its representative to the Andean Parliament, included Mustapha Moucharik, the House's secretary, Ahmed Lakhrif, its representative to the Central American Parliament (Parlacen), and Hassan Azarkan, head of the foreign relations department. During the talks, Salama conveyed the House of Councillors' commitment to supporting initiatives launched by the Andean Parliament, especially those focused on local and regional governance, as stated by the House. Sara Condori praised the Moroccan Parliament for being a model institution that embodies the true spirit and objectives of countries joining regional and continental parliamentary groups as observer members. Since its accession in July 2018, Morocco has stood out for its active participation and efforts to bolster cooperation. At the meeting, attended by outgoing Andean Parliament president Gustavo Pacheco, Condori emphasized the value of Morocco's involvement, noting that it provides an opportunity to benefit from the country's pioneering experiences in various fields. The Moroccan delegation also recalled the recent visit to Morocco by an Andean Parliament delegation led by Pacheco. This visit included a joint meeting with the bureau of the House of Councillors in Laâyoune, culminating in a joint declaration signed with House president Mohamed Ould Errachid. Following their participation in the General Assembly of the Andean Parliament and the World Congress of Community Law, the Moroccan delegation, alongside Amine Chaoudri, the kingdom's ambassador to Peru and Bolivia, hosted a reception. This event was attended by political figures from the five Andean countries, including Condori, former Andean Parliament presidents Gustavo Pacheco and Cristina Reyes, as well as notable Peruvian political and economic personalities. The reception also saw participation from Andean Parliament members representing Peru, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, and Bolivia, who were present for the regional legislative body's general assembly.
