In a swift operation, the Spanish Civil Guard in Albatera, located in the Alicante region, apprehended a 24-year-old man linked to a series of crimes, including three vehicle thefts, two additional theft incidents, and five cases of fraud. The arrest occurred just as the suspect was attempting to flee to Morocco. As reported by Spanish media on Monday, the investigation, which commenced in June, uncovered a pattern where the suspect would steal bank cards from cars and homes. He then exploited these cards to withdraw small sums at a local betting shop, leveraging the under-20-euro transaction limit that does not require a PIN. During a search, authorities discovered several bank cards from five different victims in his possession, including one belonging to a friend's mother, which was taken from her home unnoticed. Investigations revealed that the suspect often entered vehicles without causing any damage, leaving some victims unaware of the theft. The suspect was brought before the Orihuela Primary Court, which opted to release him on bail, subject to certain precautionary measures.
