The United States Navy is preparing to kick off a new edition of the UNITAS exercise, set to take place from September 16 to October 6. This event will bring together «about 8,000 military personnel from 25 allied and partner nations», according to the U.S. Navy. Among the participating forces in these maneuvers, which have been conducted since 1960, will be Morocco's Royal Armed Forces (FAR) . UNITAS serves as a significant platform for Morocco to share expertise with the armed forces of Latin American countries such as Chile, Brazil, Peru, and Colombia. The kingdom often receives invitations to participate in naval exercises organized by the United States, including events like «Phoenix Express 24» and «Sea Breeze 2021», which took place in July 2021 in the Ukrainian waters of the Black Sea. The navies of Morocco and the United States also conduct bilateral exercises, such as the 2023 edition of «Atlas Handshake». Additionally, on October 2, 2020, in Rabat, Morocco and the United States signed a military cooperation agreement that spans a decade. Since June 2004, Morocco has held the status of a major non-NATO ally of the United States.
