The «legendary wedding» organized by the notorious drug lord known as Moussa in Zeghanghane, a town near Nador, triggered a major security alert, leading to the dismantling of two criminal networks and the arrest of 34 people, including the baron himself, in the middle of last week, according to Assabah newspaper. The extravagant celebration, marked by gunfire and the presence of well-known artists, prompted swift intervention from central and regional security services. The National Brigade of Judicial Police in Casablanca carried out raids on the homes of several suspects. The operation led to the arrest of 23 individuals in an initial sweep, followed by 11 more, along with the seizure of firearms displayed during the wedding procession. All detainees were transferred to the headquarters of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations in Salé for questioning. The suspects face serious charges, including forming a criminal gang, international drug trafficking, unlawful possession and use of firearms, and suspected bribery of public officials in exchange for turning a blind eye to their activities. The crackdown also resulted in the dismissal of the regional commander of the Royal Gendarmerie in Nador. Specialized services continue to conduct field and technical investigations to trace the network's national and international connections before referring the detainees to the competent public prosecutors in Fez or Nador.
