The traveling exhibition «Belgica Biladi: A Belgian-Moroccan Story», which pays tribute to generations of Moroccan immigrants in Belgium, past and present, is on display for a few more days in Saïdia. Set up at the main entrance of the Medina Mall since September 1, it follows a first stop in Nador and will next move to Al Hoceïma. The event, launched by the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) in partnership with the Circle of Belgian Laureates (CLB), opened in Saïdia with a tribute to Cheikh Ahmed Lyo, described as «a major figure in Bedouin singing in Morocco and a witness to the memory of Moroccan songs about immigration». First created by the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and the City of Brussels, the exhibition was shown in the Belgian capital in 2024 before crossing the Mediterranean to three Moroccan cities with large dual-national communities. To make it accessible to all, the CCME translated the 37 panels into Arabic and Amazigh (Tifinagh). In Saïdia, the exhibition is also supported by the Province of Berkane, the Saïdia Development Company, and the municipality. It is part of the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the labor agreement signed between Morocco and Belgium in 1964. The exhibition traces the journey of Moroccan workers, from the aftermath of World War I to today, while highlighting the growth of a diverse Belgian society. After Saïdia (September 1–15, 2025), the exhibition will travel to Al Hoceïma, where it will run from September 22 to 30, 2025.
