The Secretary-General of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS), Mohamed Nabil Benabdallah, welcomed activist and blogger Mayssa Salama Ennaji's expressed intention to run in the upcoming elections under his party's banner. On his Facebook page, Benabdallah wrote: «A very warm welcome to Ms. Mayssa Salama Ennaji's desire to run in the upcoming legislative elections with our party. We are very proud in the PPS of this positive step, which strengthens the magnetic pull our party represents today, and the clear respect and wide appreciation it enjoys across many circles». He went on to praise «the broad influence and confirmed popularity that Ms. Mayssa enjoys, as well as her strong communication skills», adding that her decision to join «will undoubtedly encourage many other talented figures to do the same». In response, Mayssa commented on the Secretary-General's post: «Your reply warmed my heart. I will seriously consider the possibility of running with you, alongside the option of running as an independent. I will be in touch with you soon, God willing». Just a few days earlier, Mayssa had announced her candidacy for the upcoming elections, stating that she aims to «make her voice heard inside parliament». She also confirmed that she has stepped back from plans to establish a new political party, without clarifying whether she will ultimately run with an existing party or as an independent.
