The Secretary General of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS), Mohamed Nabil Benabdallah, is heading to Eastern Libya, a region under the control of Marshal Khalifa Haftar. «From September 3 to 5, 2025, Mohamed Nabil Benabdallah, accompanied by Saïd El Bakkali, member of the Political Bureau and head of the party's external relations, will visit Libya at the invitation of His Excellency Dr. Abdelhadi Lahouij, President of the Al Mostakbal Movement Party and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation», the PPS announced in a statement. The visit's agenda includes a conference by the Secretary General on «autonomy as a solution to the Sahara conflict», scheduled to take place in Benghazi before an audience of Libyan politicians and diplomats. Benabdallah is also expected to meet with the foreign minister of the Eastern Libyan government, which is not recognized by the international community, as well as Aguila Saleh, President of the Libyan House of Representatives, who is internationally recognized. In recent months, the PPS leader has stepped up his international outreach. In July, he visited Venezuela and Cuba, and earlier this summer, he made a working visit to China.
