Despite the loss, Morocco, which won its first two matches against Spain (2–0) and Brazil (2–1), remains at the top of the standings with 6 points, ahead of Mexico (5 pts), Spain (4 pts), and Brazil (1 pt). In the group's other fixture, Spain beat Brazil 1–0.
