The only goal of the game came from a penalty converted by Gilberto Mora in the 51st minute. Despite the loss, Morocco, which won its first two matches against Spain (2–0) and Brazil (2–1), remains at the top of the standings with 6 points, ahead of Mexico (5 pts), Spain (4 pts), and Brazil (1 pt). In the group's other fixture, Spain beat Brazil 1–0.
