A 17-year-old Senegalese goalkeeper, Cheikh Touré, was found dead in Ghana after falling victim to a scam network that deceived him with false promises of football trials in Morocco. In a statement issued on Saturday, October 18, the Senegalese Ministry of African Integration, Foreign Affairs, and Senegalese Abroad confirmed that the tragedy occurred on Friday, October 17. Preliminary investigations suggest that Touré was ensnared by a fraud and financial extortion network that lured him with fake offers of professional trials in Morocco, only to traffic him to Ghana, where he ultimately lost his life. The ministry added that Ghanaian authorities have opened a full investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death. Meanwhile, the Senegalese diplomatic mission in Ghana has been fully mobilized to follow the case and assist in the ongoing inquiries.
