Two young girls lost their lives yesterday after falling into a khettara (underground water channel) in the Melaab municipality in the Errachidia province. According to media reports, the victims, aged 11 and 14, had been missing for several hours before their bodies were discovered in the traditional irrigation canal known locally as the khettara. Upon being alerted, members of the Royal Gendarmerie, Civil Protection, and local authorities quickly responded to the scene. The bodies were recovered and transported to the morgue at Moulay Ali Cherif Regional Hospital for autopsy. A judicial investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
