The prototype of the «Smart Drive Test» intelligent car, designed for driver's license examinations, was unveiled on Tuesday in Rabat. The presentation, attended by Minister of Transport and Logistics Abdessamad Kayouh and Director of the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) Benacer Boulaajoul, is part of Morocco's broader effort to revamp the driver's license examination system. The goal is to enhance the credibility of the tests by ensuring that candidates truly master driving techniques and traffic rules. Minister Kayouh explained that the project is the result of a partnership between NARSA and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), focusing on innovation and the development of an intelligent testing system for driver certification. «This innovation, developed entirely by Moroccan engineers, is of great importance for young people who will soon take their driving tests in a virtual yet practical environment», he said. The project is currently in its testing phase and will continue to be developed before being fully implemented nationwide. Once operational, candidates will perform maneuvers and recognition tests on multiple circuits across various cities, simulating real-world driving conditions. «These include city, rural, highway, and expressway driving, as well as high-traffic areas», the minister added. For his part, Rafiq El Alami, Director of the Center of Excellence in Digital Innovation (DICE) at UM6P, said that the aim of the «Smart Drive Test» car is to evaluate a driver's behavior based on their environment. The system can detect road signs and traffic lights, allowing for a more accurate assessment of how candidates respond during the driving test. During the same event, officials also presented a new anti-cheating system designed to detect fraud during the theoretical portion of the driving exam. El Alami noted that this uniquely Moroccan innovation, already deployed last year in various national exams and competitions, has shown strong results in detecting cheating attempts.
