In an unexpected turn, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune exercised notable restraint when discussing the Western Sahara issue during his meeting with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. This contrasts with his previous remarks with leaders from Sierra Leone, Italy, Ghana, Kenya, and China, where he openly linked these nations to support for the Polisario's stance. In his televised address, Tebboune briefly mentioned discussions on «Sahel and the Sahara» with the Somali president but refrained from elaborating further. This segment was conspicuously absent from coverage by official Algerian media outlets, including El Moudjahid and AL24 News. Meanwhile, Somali President Mohamud made no reference to the Western Sahara issue in his English statement, diverging from the Algerian translator's interpretation. It is worth noting that Somalia recognizes Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara and has pledged to open a consulate in Dakhla. As a member of the Arab League, Somalia supported Resolution 2797, adopted by the UN Security Council on October 31.
