The Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Guelmim handed down a combined total of 117 years in prison on Wednesday against 17 defendants arrested in connection with the GenZ protests that took place in the city at the end of September and early October. According to The Voice of Morocco, the court sentenced one defendant to 15 years in prison, two others to 12 years each, while the remaining defendants received sentences ranging from 10 to 3 years of effective imprisonment. Four minors were among those prosecuted. The defendants were convicted on charges including disrupting public order, damaging public property, throwing stones at law enforcement, and participating in an unauthorized gathering.
