The criminal chamber of the El Jadida Court of Appeals has handed down a five-year prison sentence to a man in his forties. This decision stems from a case involving the attempted violent assault of a minor, as well as charges of assault and battery with a weapon and public intoxication, as reported by Assabah newspaper. The ruling followed a complaint lodged by the young victim and her father with the Royal Gendarmerie at Bir Jdid. The complaint detailed how the accused, in a state of heavy intoxication, broke into the family home one evening, exploiting the absence of other family members. He unlawfully entered the minor's room and attempted to rape her, prompting her to escape and seek help from neighbors. According to the report, local residents intervened to shield the victim until her family returned. The case was subsequently referred to the appropriate authorities, leading to the suspect's arrest and the initiation of an investigation into the incident.
