DR ‹ › Originally set to welcome visitors on December 22, Ain Sebaa Zoo in Casablanca has seen its reopening delayed due to unfavorable weather conditions, according to Moulay Ahmed Afilal, Deputy Mayor of Casablanca. Morocco has experienced heavy rainfall in recent weeks, and meteorological forecasts suggest that rain and thunderstorms are likely to continue in the coming days. Speaking to Morocco's 2M TV, Afilal dismissed any organizational or technical issues, emphasizing that the zoo's infrastructure and facilities are fully ready to receive visitors. He said the official reopening is now expected early next week, with the exact date to be announced within 24 hours. Afilal added that the zoo will reopen «in a new look», following extensive renovation and redevelopment works aimed at meeting public expectations, particularly those of families and children, who make up the majority of visitors. Covering a total area of 13 hectares, including 10 hectares dedicated to animal habitats, Ain Sebaa Zoo is expected to host 319 animals representing 75 species. The zoo will be operated by Dream Village under a 20-year delegated management contract. Entry fees have been set at 80 dirhams for adults and 50 dirhams for children, with discounted family and group packages priced at 60 dirhams per adult and 40 dirhams per child. The project required a total investment of 250 million dirhams, including 130 million dirhams from the Ministry of the Interior, 80 million dirhams from the Casablanca municipality, and 40 million dirhams from the Casablanca–Settat region, according to Casa Aménagement.
