The Algerian supporter is accused of inciting hooliganism and is also being held. A source contacted by Yabiladi confirmed that all individuals involved in the violence will face arrest. The unrest broke out just minutes before the end of regulation time, as Senegal were closing in on a 1–0 victory. Nearly a thousand Senegalese supporters attempted to storm the pitch for around fifteen minutes before being brought under control by police and stadium stewards. Projectiles, including chairs used by photographers, were thrown onto the field. Several young stewards were injured, one of them seriously. Earlier, tensions had already been high after Senegalese players and staff briefly left the pitch in protest over a penalty awarded to Morocco in the final moments of stoppage time. As the atmosphere grew increasingly charged, supporters attempted to invade the field while Brahim Díaz was preparing to take the penalty. The match resumed after Senegalese players, urged by their captain Sadio Mané, returned to the pitch. The penalty was ultimately missed.
