DR ‹ › Rabat inaugurated its new ice hockey complex on Saturday during a landmark sporting event marked by a friendly match between the Moroccan national team and its French counterpart. Located in the Yacoub El Mansour district, the facility covers more than 16,000 square meters and includes a modern arena built to international hockey standards. The complex's centerpiece is Africa's largest ice rink, spanning 1,738 square meters. It is also the only Olympic-size rink on the continent, giving the site both a sporting and recreational vocation and strengthening Morocco's ability to host regional and international competitions, said Isabelle Valois, Canada's Ambassador to Morocco, who attended the inauguration. She described the opening as a «dream come true», made possible by the determination of Khalid Mrini, founding president of the Fédération royale marocaine de hockey sur glace (FRMHG). The project, backed by the Moroccan state through the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports and implemented by the National Agency for Public Equipment (ANEP), represents an investment of approximately 246 million dirhams. It aims not only to develop ice hockey domestically, but also to enhance Morocco's international profile and boost sports-driven tourism.
