DR ‹ › Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch held talks with his Senegalese counterpart Ousmane Sonko, Monday in Rabat, who is on a working visit to Morocco. The visit comes as part of the 15th session of the Morocco–Senegal High Joint Partnership Committee. The meeting was attended by Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, as well as Hassan Naciri, Morocco's ambassador to Senegal. According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, both sides reaffirmed the commitment of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Senegal to further strengthen their bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, in line with the aspirations of the leaders of both countries. The two parties also stressed their determination to remain faithful to the spirit of brotherhood, solidarity, and mutual respect that characterizes relations between Morocco and Senegal, for the benefit of the African continent. They highlighted the role played by the Moroccan community in Senegal and the Senegalese community in Morocco in deepening and enriching this longstanding partnership. Prime Minister Akhannouch praised the strong human, religious, and economic ties uniting the two countries, noting that these bonds are clearly reflected in the eight visits paid by King Mohammed VI to Senegal. He also underlined Senegal's pivotal role in the royal initiatives aimed at promoting development in Africa, particularly the initiative to facilitate access for Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean. The meeting also provided an opportunity to take stock of the progress achieved in recent years, including increased exchanges of ministerial visits, the strengthening of the legal framework governing bilateral cooperation, and the expansion of economic partnerships and investments since Bassirou Diomaye Faye assumed the presidency of Senegal.
