DR ‹ › Four people have died and a fifth remains missing after violent flooding hit the village of Lmouawja on Saturday, in the commune of Bni Harchen, within the Jbel Lahbib district, local authorities in Tétouan province said. The incident occurred on provincial road No. 4704, near a major tributary of Oued Rmilat. A light vehicle carrying five people was caught by sudden floodwaters and swept away. Upon being alerted, local and security authorities, supported by Civil Protection services, immediately launched search and rescue operations. Significant human and logistical resources were deployed, including diving teams, trained search dogs, a drone, and volunteers from the local community. Overnight search operations led to the recovery of the bodies of two victims: a 14-year-old girl and a 2-year-old child. The following morning, two additional bodies were found, those of a 12-year-old child and a man in his thirties. Search efforts are ongoing to locate the fifth missing person. A judicial investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor to determine the circumstances and causes of the tragedy, the same source said.
