Moroccan champions shone brilliantly at the 17th Paralympic Games, which concluded in Paris on Sunday. This marks Morocco's best-ever medal haul, surpassing the 7 medals won in Beijing and Rio de Janeiro, and the 11 in Tokyo. This year, the national champions earned 15 medals, including 3 gold, 6 silver, and 6 bronze. Gold medals were claimed by Fatima Ezzahra El Idrissi in the marathon (T12), Aymane El Haddaoui in the 400m (T47), and Mouncef Bouja in the 400m (T12). Silver went to Fatima Zahra El Idrissi in the 1500m (T13), Abdelilah Gani (F53) in the shot put, Youssra Karim in the discus throw (F41), Azddine Nouiri in the shot put (T34), Ayoub Sadni in the 400m (T47), and Meryem En-Nourhi in the marathon (T12). Bronze medals were won by El Amin Chentouf in the marathon (T12), Aymane El Haddaoui in the 100m (T47), Ayoub Adouich (-63 kg/K44) and Rajae Akermach (+65 kg/K44) in para-taekwondo, Saida Amoudi in the shot put (F34), and Azeddine Nouiri in the shot put (F34). These outstanding results are the culmination of the hard work and dedication of the Moroccan Paralympic sports teams since the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. This year marks Morocco's tenth participation in the Paralympics, following appearances in Seoul 1988, Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016, and Tokyo 2020. Since its first participation, Morocco has now won a total of 53 medals: 19 gold, 17 silver, and 17 bronze. Morocco participated in the 17th Paralympic Games with 38 athletes, competing in para-athletics (motor and visual impairments), wheelchair tennis, para-powerlifting, para-taekwondo, para-road cycling, and cecifoot. Following this achievement, Said Mrini, Technical Director of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sports for People with Disabilities (FRMSPSH), highlighted that these results are the outcome of the efforts of the national managers and the federation's training strategy. In a statement to MAP, Mrini expressed hopes for even greater success in future competitions, emphasizing the need for continued effort to excel in all disciplines.
