Salma Benaziz, Chairwoman of the Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, Migration, and Moroccans Resident Abroad Committee in Morocco's House of Representatives, was elected Chairwoman of the Forum of Foreign Affairs Committee Chairpersons of African Parliaments on Thursday, February 20, in Rabat. Her election took place at the conclusion of the Forum's second edition, organized by the House of Representatives under the theme «Towards the Establishment of Sustainable Foundations for Stability and Security in Africa». The closing session also saw the election of the Forum's Vice-Presidents, representing four regions of the continent—West Africa, East Africa, Central Africa, and Southern Africa—along with the approval of the Forum's draft statutes. The draft statutes aim to enhance African parliamentary cooperation, contribute to peace and security, strengthen the role of parliaments in international and regional affairs, promote parliamentary diplomacy as a tool for international collaboration, and foster economic integration and development cooperation among African nations. The Forum served as a platform for participants to bolster coordination, dialogue, and consultation between the foreign affairs committees of African parliaments, particularly on peace and security challenges. Discussions were structured around two key themes: «Mediation and Coexistence: Building a Conflict-Resilient Africa» and «Economic Integration and Development Corridors: A Response to Africa's Peace Challenges».
