Moroccan authorities are ramping up their investigations into the drug tunnel discovered in Ceuta as part of Operation «Hades», led by the Spanish Civil Guard. In recent days, several excavations have been carried out along the route of the secret tunnel, which has been used for smuggling large quantities of hashish between Ceuta and Morocco for several years. This follows precise measurements, infrastructure inspections, and the use of sensor-equipped cameras to trace the tunnel's path. According to Spanish media, current investigations are focused on determining the tunnel's depth and length within Moroccan territory, as well as exploring any potential branches. The investigation centers around two warehouses in the area, one of which has seen unusual activity, with security personnel frequently entering and exiting, bringing in documents, measuring devices, and cameras. This suggests a possible connection between the tunnel and a larger smuggling operation. Despite the heightened activity, Morocco has kept the details of the investigations under tight secrecy. Meanwhile, on the Spanish side, the Civil Guard continues preparations, awaiting better weather conditions to access the tunnel through an industrial facility in the «Tarajal» area. Operation «Hades» has led to the arrest of 14 individuals and the discovery of the tunnel in an old warehouse that was once a marble factory in «Tarajal». The tunnel was used to transport drugs in trucks, which were inspected at ports before being sent to «Algeciras» and distributed across various Spanish cities. The investigation intensified following a complaint filed by the public prosecutor's office, which highlighted potential ties between the criminal network and some members of the Civil Guard, who are suspected of facilitating drug smuggling through the tunnel.
