Space cakes and hash brownies are old news in the Netherlands, but cannabis-laced Haribo gummies? That's a new one. Haribo has recalled its Happy Cola F!ZZ sweets after traces of cannabis were found in several 1kg bags—yes, the real deal Haribo, not knockoffs. The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) said the recall follows reports of health complaints, such as dizziness from people—including children—who ate the sweets. The affected packs had a best-before date of January 2026 and a specific product code. The mystery came to light when a couple from Twente (eastern Netherlands) handed a bag to the police after their children fell quite ill from eating the sweets. Forensic tests confirmed the presence of cannabis, and police are now investigating how it ended up in the candy—and how the contaminated packs reached stores. «Do not eat these sweets», the NVWA warned bluntly. Haribo is offering full refunds for affected products and said it is taking the matter «very seriously».
