«Ispania wa Rif» (Spain and the Rif) is the latest essay by researcher Mimoun Aziza, bringing together studies and articles previously published in journals or presented at conferences in Morocco and abroad. Published in Arabic by La Croisée des Chemins, in partnership with the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME), the book explores various themes related to the Spanish presence in the Rif region, migration, and the causes and consequences of these dynamics. Throughout the book, the university professor and Rif specialist delves into questions of memory and shared history. He describes it as a «richly documented» work that focuses on «the economic and social history of the region». A professor of contemporary history at the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences at Moulay Ismaïl University in Meknes, Aziza offers here a thorough and necessary contribution as a recognized expert in modern Hispano-Moroccan relations. According to the publisher, he is also the author of a book on Rif society under Spanish colonization in northern Morocco (1912–1956) and has published «around twenty articles» exploring various aspects of the Rif's history during the colonial era.
