In Jerada, a griffon vulture in distress was successfully rescued, treated, and released back into its natural habitat, thanks to a coordinated effort by the National Agency for Water and Forests (ANEF) and the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA), according to a recent statement. On Monday, July 21, local residents reported spotting an injured bird of prey, believed to have been attacked by stray dogs. In response, agents from the Water and Forests department quickly arrived on the scene to assess the bird's critical condition. The vulture was transferred to ONSSA's veterinary services in Jerada, where it received urgent medical care, including clinical examinations and comprehensive testing. Over the course of three days, the bird was kept under close observation. No signs of avian flu or other serious diseases were detected. ANEF continued to monitor the vulture's recovery for another three days until it had fully regained its strength. On Saturday, July 26, the bird was released back into the wild at a suitable location within the province. «The vulture has fully recovered its physical abilities», the National Agency for Water and Forests stated, highlighting that this success was made possible by «a rapid response to alerts», and reaffirming the agency's commitment to protecting biodiversity.
