During her stay, Ms. Kallas will also meet with leaders from various sectors and tour the EuroMed University» in Fez, announced the European External Action Service (EEAS) in a press release. Kallas and Bourita last met in Brussels on January 29, marking the 30th anniversary of the EU-Morocco association agreement. This gathering also included foreign ministers from EU member states. During that meeting, the head of European diplomacy officially conveyed to her Moroccan counterpart the EU's updated stance on Western Sahara, emphasizing that «genuine autonomy could be one of the most viable solutions» for a lasting resolution to the regional conflict. Kallas highlighted that «this shift aligns with the United Nations Security Council's resolution from last October and reinforces the EU's ongoing support for the UN-led initiative to achieve a sustainable solution for the Western Sahara issue». It is worth noting that in January, EU member states authorized the European Commission to initiate negotiations with Morocco for a new fishing agreement.
