The Omar Mosque, located in the southern part of Bagneux, has received an official warning from the prefect of Hauts-de-Seine following recent sermons by Mohamed Mehdaoui. Mehdaoui, who publishes Madrass'Animée, was fined 2,000 euros by the Nanterre criminal court earlier in July. Speaking to Europe1 this Tuesday, Alexandre Brugère, the prefect of Hauts-de-Seine, stressed that Mehdaoui had «published texts or illustrations that threaten young people and could incite violence, notably by portraying scenes of torture». The contentious books, titled «Heroes of Islam: The Companions of the Prophet», reportedly feature individuals without faces. The prefect pointed out that these works promote jihad and radical Islam. «I will not hesitate to deploy the full range of sanctions available to me and the State if these actions are repeated», he asserted to Europe1. On July 1st, the Bagneux mosque was notably absent from the list of mosques invited to the departmental-level territorial meetings on Islam in France.
