Moroccan coach and former goalkeeper Badou Zaki, who currently manages the Niger national football team, suffered a health scare at Casablanca airport on Saturday, September 6, as he was preparing to travel to Zanzibar for the FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifier between Tanzania and Niger, Niger's Football Federation (FENIFOOT) announced Monday in a communique. He was immediately admitted to Mohammed VI University Hospital in Casablanca, where he received treatment and is now recovering and out of danger, FENIFOOT said. Zaki will not be able to travel or lead the team in Tuesday's match, September 9, for medical reasons, the statement stressed, adding that he will be replaced by his assistant, Zakaryaou Ibrahim. Zaki was in Morocco to assist his team in their match against the Atlas Lions, where Niger suffered a heavy 5–0 defeat in the World Cup qualifier held on Friday at Rabat's newly built Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
