Nadia Sabri has been appointed as the new director of the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMVI), succeeding Abdelaziz El Idrissi. This change comes as part of the National Foundation of Museums' (FNM) administrative reorganization. An accomplished art historian, exhibition curator, academic, and president of AICA Morocco (International Association of Art Critics), Nadia Sabri is charged with advancing efforts to make art more accessible, particularly to younger audiences. She will also focus on strengthening the museum's collections and enriching its exhibition programming, according to a statement from the Foundation. For the past eleven years, MMVI has been at the forefront of promoting contemporary artistic practices, enhancing its stature on both the national and international stages. El Idrissi, who now takes on the role of head of the museum department, will continue to play a pivotal role, the statement notes. In his new position, El Idrissi will oversee cultural programming, inventory and digitization projects, manage both permanent and temporary exhibitions, and spearhead mediation activities and the promotion of collections. The statement also highlights that El Idrissi has been at the helm of the museum since its inauguration in 2014 by King Mohammed VI.
