Informed sources reported that the Ministry of the Interior is closely monitoring and taking seriously a video circulating on several news websites and social media platforms, in which a local councilor from Safi province accuses the former provincial governor of requesting a bribe from a contractor in exchange for authorizing a road project. The video has sparked widespread reactions and public commentary online. According to the same sources, the allegations were made by a municipal councilor from Lamsabih during the council's regular October session. The official claimed that former Safi governor demanded a payment of 60 million dirhams from a contractor to secure a contract for a road development project. In response, the Ministry of the Interior has ordered a comprehensive administrative investigation to verify the accuracy of the claims made in the video. A committee from the General Inspectorate of Territorial Administration has been assigned to conduct the inquiry. Its mission includes gathering testimonies from all parties involved, questioning the former governor, reviewing all aspects of the case, and collecting relevant evidence to determine any potential violations or misconduct. Based on the outcome of the investigation, the ministry will take the appropriate administrative, disciplinary, or legal measures against anyone found responsible, in line with the principle of linking responsibility to accountability, a cornerstone of public governance. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the reputation of the territorial administration and upholding the values of transparency and integrity, emphasizing that it will firmly address any act or behavior that undermines public trust in state institutions.
