In response to the reactions sparked by Hamid El Mahdaoui's revelations, including statements from the PJD, an MP from the left-wing federation, the National Union of Moroccan Press, and the National Association of Lawyers in Morocco, the Provisional Commission for the Management of Press and Publishing announced on Friday, November 21, that it has decided to file a complaint against the journalist. In its statement, the Commission stresses that publishing or broadcasting excerpts from an internal meeting constitutes a violation of the law. It recalls that the confidentiality of deliberations is guaranteed by the internal regulations of the National Press Council, particularly Article 18. The Commission also affirms that sharing the content of internal meetings or images of individuals without their consent is illegal and bears no relation to freedom of the press or freedom of expression. The statement further notes that some comments attributed in El Mahdaoui's YouTube video to members of the Ethics Committee are «inaccurate», «distorted», and «entirely fabricated».
